Founded in 1922, Valencia Club de Hockey (VCH) is 88 years old. The earliest reference to VCH is in an article in the Las Provincias newspaper in October 1923.
In 1927, the right winger Alberto Bruce became the first club player to play in the Spanish national team against France.
The club had a chequered history around that time and on at least two occasions it nearly disappeared. The first time was during the Spanish Civil War. The second was at the beginning of the 1990s when the club was a part of Valencia Football Club; but we didn’t give up and the club continues. Sometime later the club was re-established by a few players, who were the leading force in the club in the post-ValenciaCF years.
In 1931 VCH won the XVII King's Cup, playing in the Mestalla Stadium.
By 1957 VCH was fielding 2 Men's teams and 1 Ladies’ team; there were no Leagues, games were just played for enjoyment.
The post-ValenciaCF period saw Valencia Club de Hockey consolidate itself as one of the strongest clubs in Spain, helped in 2006 by the property developer Obradis which was a generous sponsor of the club.
In more recent times, VCH has taken part in the Spanish Honor Division League. The Club now boasts some of the best facilities in the local area with changing rooms, a bar and catering facilities next to the pitch.
